WiSAR Lab at May IEEE 802.15.6 Meeting
The WiSAR Lab attended the May 2011 meeting of the IEEE 802.15.6 Working Group in Palm Springs. This meeting reviewed the comments submitted on the draft standard put forward for a letter ballot vote, including those comments submitted by the WiSAR Lab. (Meeting Minutes). The editor gave a report on the status of draft of the standard d03 for Letter Ballot 71. The meeting broke into working groups to resolve comments for the MAC and each of the PHY's - comments resolutions can be found in document (11-0363-05). A "Proposed change to text for MICS LP-LDC support" (11-0410-00) was also adopted. There was a report on a number of conference calls held with AdvaMed about the HBC PHY (see IEEE mentor site for minutes), with concerns expressed about progress as there are a number of industry questions that were still to be resolved and these are reflected in some comments made on the draft d03.
The chair presented a liaison letter from ETSI including concerns regarding alignment of the IEEE 802.15.6 standard with provisions of the harmonized ETSI standards and potential EMI problem of HBC to implanted medical devices.
A draft4 will be recirculated and is expected to go for sponsor ballot at July meeting -where it is planned that the recirculation vote will be reported followed by a vote to send draft to sponsor ballot, with subsequent meetings to resolve Sponsor Ballot comments.
