ARE ICT Cluster

The WiSAR Lab is part of the Applied Research Enhancement (ARE) Program's ICT & Software Cluster. This cluster is made up of research groups in Irish Institutes of Technology which collaborate on research areas of shared interest and work jointly to meet the needs of industrial partners.

The Research Centres in the cluster and their research areas are

WiSAR Lab (Wireless Sensor Applied Research) - the application of Wireless Sensor Networks in Body Area Networks and buildings, with an emphasis on the evaluating and minimising the power consumption of the wireless devices.

CASALA (Centre for Affective Solutions for Ambient Living Awareness) -  Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environments integrating stand-alone assistive technologies, with elements of smart homes, and telehealth services to promote the ability for older people to live independently and age well.

SUNAT (Seamless Content Delivery) - the seamless delivery of multimedia content across different network technologies using fixed, mobile, wireless networks and networked service platforms and devices.

3CS (Centre for Converged IP Communications Services) - the next generation of telecommunications and Internet services using advanced new networks, services and applications, cloud-computing and media solutions.

TEC-CENTRE - (Technologies for Embedded Computing) - networked emdedded systems to control the operation of products such as MP3 players, mobile phones and sensors used in cars, buildings, energy and healthcare.
