Jim holds a PhD (2006) in Digital Security from the University of Limerick, an MSc (1992) in Industrial Applications of Computing from the Open University and a BEng (1981) in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Queens University of Belfast. He has been a member of the IEEE and its Communications Society and Computer Society for over 20 years.
He joined LYIT in 1985 as a Lecturer and became Head of Department of Electronics and Mechanical engineering in 2004. He was a co-founder of the WISAR Lab in 2009 and was a co-founder of the associated EpiCentre in 2004. His current research interests are in the areas of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), Medical Body Area Networks (MBAN), Sensors, Ultra Low Power Communication Protocols and associated security issues. |
