While there are 6 different gameplay modes, the major game play is centered around two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. Each team has a different objective. The terrorists are tasked with planting a bomb and ensuring its explosion, or guarding the hostages. The Counter-Terrorist’s goal is to prevent the bomb from being planted and rescue the hostages. At the start of each round players have the opportunity to purchase weapons and equipment. Money is awarded by winning rounds, completing objectives, and killing enemy players. The better an individual’s performance in the game, the more money they will be awarded which they can they exchange for better weapons and equipment. Friendly Fire will result in penalty. You can also purchase some cs go skins to make your character look awesome.

The 6 different game modes are Competitive, Casual, Arms Race, Demolition, Death Match and Weapons Course. Competitive mode consists of a standard 5v5 match. This mode is the most competitive. Casual mode is a more toned down version of competitive mode because it eliminates team damage. In Arms Race each player upgrades their weapons by killing enemies. Demolition is a combination of Arms Race and Competitive in that you work to defuse the bomb and receive weapons upgrades at the end of each round for killing enemies. In Death Match the objective is simply to kill other players and players re-spawn after they are killed. Weapons Course is designed for players to practice using various items and weapons. The game also introduced a total of 8 new maps for its game modes and various new weapons. One of the newest weapons includes the incendiary or Molotov depending on which side you are on. This temporarily covers a small area with fire that damages anyone that passes through. The game also introduced the zeus taser, and sub-machine guns. Because of its popularity and competitive gameplay Valve hosts major tournaments with a prize pool of 250,000.
